The Fraser river sports sockeye fishery opened with  tidal waves of anglers.
Tackle Shops, gas stations, grocery stores and off-spin businesses, close to the action, experienced a sudden swell in business with the August 02/02 Fraser opening for sockeye salmon sportfishing.  People from as far away as Alberta frequented the Fraser river gravel bars with impressive results.   Although the sockeye seemed to arrive in legions pacing their way up the edges of the river, sportfishers - young, old, pro, and just for fun folk enjoyed the exciting opportunity.
